Perfectly Cooked Rice

I understand that it’s quite common to struggle to cook rice well. Well-cooked rice means separate grains cooked all the way through. No wet sticky bitey mess.

By making this dish, you will acquire and practice the following skills:

  • Cook white and brown rice so grains are fluffy, separate, and light.
  • Judge heat and water absorption without stirring or lifting the lid.
  • Understand how rice variety affects starchiness and cooking ease.
  • Adjust water ratios for brown rice vs white rice.
  • Rescue over-starchy rice by rinsing, or prevent it by washing beforehand.

Watch the video, have a go at the dish, and use the quiz as a friendly nudge to make the skill your own.
