‘Thank you for your dedication and endurance. Wishing you all the best in your endeavours.’
Alice S, Kendal; Food Customer
Dear Reader,
Come home to real food
I teach people how to cook better – because that’s what I can do for the animals.
I’m not built for the front lines of activism because my mind is not strong enough; I can’t bear witness at slaughterhouses or hold a placard in the rain. But I can cook. I can teach, and I can feed. And that’s how I help.
Most people who struggle with veganism don’t fall away because they’ve stopped caring – they fall because of the food. Or people don’t become vegan in the first place because of their perception of the food. It’s the flavour, the confidence, the skills, the nourishment. That’s where I come in. My job is to make real, flavour-forward, emotionally satisfying food that keeps people vegan — food that brings them back to the table, back to themselves, and closer to a kinder world. One meal at a time…
As well as event-catering, feeding meat-eaters most of the time, I’ve created The Golden Polar Bear, a living body of work – an ever-growing place of. knowledge:
- The Hearth to watch good cooking – The Golden Polar Bear on YouTube
- The Library to explore at your own rhythm
- The Members’ Room for those who want a quiet hand nearby.
We start with one meal, one lesson, one moment of understanding – and from there, it deepens.
Every dish that doesn’t rely on an animal is a small act of hope.
This is mine.

p.s. The Golden Polar Bear Real Food Standard: every photograph on this site begins and ends in reality — not a food stylist’s prop room. I use an iPhone 14 Pro Max in Portrait mode (3× lens). I cook, I plate, I shoot — fast, while the food’s still breathing. What you see is what I saw: honest colour, true texture, and light from the window, the sun, or a lamp you’d find in any home. That’s deliberate. Because if you cook my recipes, your food will look like mine.
The world doesn’t need more perfect food pictures — it needs food you can actually trust

‘Totally recommend the cookery courses. The meals are really tasty and full of flavour (not like most of the vegan mush I make for myself).’
